ORDINANCE NO. 2025-90 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,644 FROM <br />THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NATIONAL HIGHWAY <br />TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION THROUGH THE VIRGINIA <br />HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE <br />FY 2026 GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT TO IMPROVE TRAFFIC SAFETY IN PORTSMOUTH. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it accepts a grant in the amount of $11,644 from the U.S. Department <br />of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through the Virginia <br />Highway Safety Office and appropriates said funds in the FY 2026 Grants Fund Budget. <br />2. That the funds shall be used by the Police Department for the purpose of <br />improving traffic safety in Portsmouth. <br />3. That a local in-kind match in the amount of $5,822 is required as a <br />condition of the funding, which match will be satisfied through fuel and maintenance <br />costs, funding for which has previously been appropriated in the FY 2026 General Fund <br />Budget. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2026 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $11,644. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on October 28, 2025. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
