ORDINANCE NO. 2025-77 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $424,733.35 <br />FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2026 GRANTS FUND TO <br />REIMBURSE THE CITY FOR THE SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it accepts funds in the amount of $424,733.35 from the Virginia <br />Department of Education and appropriates said amount in the FY 2026 Grants Fund. <br />2. That the funds shall be used to reimburse the City for the Summer Food <br />Service Program, which is operated by the Department of Parks & Recreation. <br />3. That no local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2026 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $424,733.35. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on September 23, 2025. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
