ORDINANCE NO. 2024-94 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,925 <br />FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION THROUGH THE <br />VIRGINIA HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2025 GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT TO DETER DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts grant funds in the amount of $6,925 from the U.S. <br />Department of Transportation through the Virginia Highway Safety Office and <br />appropriates said amount in the FY 2025 Grants Fund Budget. <br />2. That the funds shall be used by the Police Department to deter driving <br />under the influence by providing overtime pay to conduct checkpoints and saturation <br />patrols and to purchase related equipment. <br />3. That a local match in the amount of $3,462 is required as a condition of <br />the grant funding, which match will be satisfied by funding for fuel and vehicle <br />maintenance costs that has previously been appropriated in the FY 2025 General Fund <br />Budget. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2025 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $6,925. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on September 24, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
