ORDINANCE NO. 2024-80 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING VIRGINIA BROADBAND AFFORDABILITY <br />AND PLANNING GRANT FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $23,985 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2025 <br />GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION <br />TECHNOLOGY TO CONDUCT NEEDS ASSESSMENTS AND DEVELOP <br />STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE DIGITAL OPPORTUNITY IN THE CITY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts Virginia Broadband Affordability and Planning <br />Grant funding in the amount of $23,985 from the Virginia Department of Housing and <br />Community Development and appropriates said amount in the FY 2025 Grants Fund. <br />2. That the funds shall be used by the Department of Information <br />Technology to conduct needs assessments, identify priorities, and develop plans with <br />implementation strategies to address and promote digital opportunity. <br />3. That no local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2025 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $23,985. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on September 10, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
