ORDINANCE NO. 2024-76 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,067,316 <br />FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES <br />AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2025 GRANTS FUND TO <br />PROVIDE FUNDING TO THE PORTSMOUTH SHERIFF'S OFFICE FOR THE <br />SALARIES AND BENEFITS OF TWELVE FULL-TIME SCHOOL RESOURCE <br />OFFICERS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts a grant in the amount of $1,067,316 from the Virginia <br />Department of Criminal Justice Services and appropriates said funds in the FY 2025 Grants <br />Fund. <br />2. That the grant funds shall be used by the Sheriff's Office to fund twelve <br />(12) full-time School Resource Officer positions. <br />3. That a local match in the amount of $210,098 in cash and $121,248 in in- <br />kind services is required as a condition of the funding, which match will be provided <br />through funds previously appropriated in the Sheriff's Office Category of the FY 2025 <br />General Fund Budget. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2025 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $1,067,316. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on August 13, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
