ORDINANCE NO. 2024-70 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING JAIL DIVERSION FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF $50,451 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL <br />HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2025 BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE SERVICE FUND <br />FOR DIVERSION OF MISDEMEANOR OFFENDERS WITH MENTAL <br />HEALTH ISSUES FROM JAIL INTO TREATMENT. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts Jail Diversion funds in the amount of $50,451 from <br />the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and <br />appropriates said amount in the FY 2025 Behavioral Healthcare Service Fund Budget. <br />2. That the funds shall be used by the Department of Behavioral Healthcare <br />Services for diversion of misdemeanor offenders with mental health issues from jail into <br />treatment. <br />3. That, to the extent not expended, the funds shall be deemed reappropriated <br />into the Behavioral Healthcare Service Fund Budget annually until expended by the City <br />or withdrawn by the granting entity. <br />4. That no local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br />5. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2025 Behavioral <br />Service Fund Budget are increased by $50,451. <br />6. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on August 13, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
