ORDINANCE NO. 2024-55 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING WITH APPRECIATION A BEQUEST IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $206,817.52 FROM THE ESTATE OF MADHAVI K. CHARI AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS TO THE FY 2025 GENERAL FUND BUDGET <br />FOR USE BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, <br />RESCUE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts with appreciation a bequest in the amount of <br />$206,817.52 from the Estate of Madhavi K. Chari and appropriates said funds to the FY <br />2025 General Fund Budget. <br />2. That $103,408.76 of the said funds shall be used to supplement the Police <br />Department budget and $103,408.76 of the said funds shall be used to supplement the <br />Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services budget. <br />3. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2025 General Fund <br />Budget are increased by $206,817.52. <br />4. That this ordinance shall take effect on July 1, 2024. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on June 11, 2024. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
