Planning Commission, Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance, as well <br />as several others. A few of these positions are highlighted below: <br />Support: <br />• Increased reliable, sustainable Transit funding, and making the Transportation <br />Fund whole. <br />• Provide state funding for the continued implementation of the MARCUS Alert <br />System. <br />• Removal of barriers to the use of technology to address crime. <br />• Housing and Workforce Development opportunities. <br />• Removal of the SOQ cap, improving K12 Education funding methodology and <br />fully funding K12 <br />Education. <br />• All initiatives to increase and expand childcare access for military and civilian <br />families. <br />• Funding to build the Birthplace of America Trail (BOAT). <br />• Restoration of State funding for Planning District Commissions — esp. Hampton <br />Roads Planning District Commission. <br />• Increase funding for approved historical African American gravesites in Virginia. <br />• Reappropriate and increase the funding to the Virginia Department of Marine <br />Resources Commission to assist with the removal and disposal of derelict boats <br />in Portsmouth. <br />Oppose: <br />• Any state -mandated exemptions to the local option sales tax without a viable <br />replacement source. <br />• State limits placed on local authority over management of local school districts; <br />reduction/diversion of state funds and resources intended for local public schools <br />to fun charter, college partnership laboratory schools, or other state initiatives of <br />this nature. <br />• Any acquisitions of VIG by the Port of Virginia without replacement of lost <br />revenues to the City. <br />
