Sec. 40.2 -217. Use - Specific Standards. <br />(H) Industrial Uses. <br />(3) Warehouse and Freight Movement. <br />(b) Shipping Container /Chassis Storage Yard. In addition to general <br />requirements, shipping container /chassis storage yards shall comply <br />with the following standards: <br />(1) The minimum lot size for a shipping container /chassis storage <br />yard shall be two (2) acres. <br />(ii) Drive aisles at least 50 feet wide shall be provided between rows <br />of containers to provide sufficient space for forklifts and safe <br />maneuvering unless a modification is approved by the City <br />Engineer. <br />(iii) Containers shall not be stored in groups that occupy an area <br />measuring greater than 200 feet by 80 feet. <br />(iv) Containers shall be placed on a level, well - compacted surface of <br />crushed stone or similar material. <br />(v) All entrance drives and off street parking areas shall be paved <br />with asphalt or concrete. <br />(vi) The container storage area, as well as the entrance drives and off - <br />street parking areas, shall be maintained free of potholes. <br />(vii) Shipping containers shall be stacked no higher than four <br />containers high. <br />(viii) Only shipping containers being used in the active transport of <br />goods, wares, or merchandise shall be placed or stored in a <br />shipping container storage yard. <br />(ix) All shipping containers shall be placed or stored in a shipping <br />container storage yard in an empty and ready to ship state. <br />(x) On -site repairs of shipping containers shall be limited to minor <br />repairs needed to ensure that they remain in a condition ready to <br />ship — including cleaning, repairing, servicing, painting, or <br />fumigation. <br />(xi) All shipping containers shall be kept within a fenced area. <br />(xii) The owner /operator shall maintain a log showing the dates each <br />container was brought on the site and removed. <br />(xiii) No shipping container shall be stored on the site longer than 12 <br />months. <br />(xiv) No signage shall be placed on the shipping container units. <br />(xv) Any graffiti on shipping containers that are visible from adjacent <br />properties or public rights -of -way shall be removed immediately. <br />(xvi) All truck chassis shall remain in an operable condition, be <br />roadworthy, and display all valid vehicle license and current tags, <br />as required. <br />
