Cities, Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Commission, Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance, Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, as well as several others. A few of these positions are highlighted below: Support: • An increase in State assistance to local law enforcement (599 funding) • Amending Virginia Barrier Crime Statute allowing more individuals with applicable life experiences to serve as Youth Mentors and Peer Recovery Specialists • State assistance decreasing time demands on Police Officers with Temporary Detention Orders (TDOs), to include providing funding needed for mental health resources/staff employed to transition these roles away from local police officers • JLARC's K12 funding recommendations: o JLARC recommends about $1 billion in near-term funding needs and $2.5 billion in longer-term state funding goals. Near term goals include: ■ Unwinding Great Recession era budget cuts such as the support cap ■ Properly recognizing prevailing salaries paid by school divisions ■ Combining/updating at -risk student funding programs into the SOQ • The formation of the Chief Resilience Officer Position at the State level with adequate support staff • Provision of a minimum of $200M annually through the Commonwealth Flood Protection Program to support smaller projects and planning efforts • Efforts to make Hampton Roads a Hub for the Emerging Offshore Wind Industry • Making the Transportation Fund whole — with a dedicated, reoccurring and reliable funding stream for Hampton Roads Transit • Removal of barriers to the use of technology to address crime • Housing Opportunities for All • All initiatives to increase and expand childcare access for military and civilian families • Funding to build the Birthplace of America Trail (Boat) • Restoration of State funding for Planning District Commission
