022 -50 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING JAIL DIVERSION FUNDING IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $50,451 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2023 BEHAVIORAL <br />HEALTHCARE SERVICE FUND TO ASSIST WITH DIVERTING <br />INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES FROM INCARCERATION <br />FOR MISDEMEANOR OFFENSES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts Jail Diversion funding in the amount of $50,451 <br />from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and <br />appropriates said amount in the FY 2023 Behavioral Healthcare Service Fund. <br />2. That the funds shall be used by the Department of Behavioral Healthcare <br />Services to assist with diverting individuals with mental health issues from incarceration <br />for misdemeanor offenses. <br />3. That no local match is required as a condition of receiving the funds. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2023 Behavioral <br />Healthcare Service Fund Budget are increased by $50,451. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on July 1, 2022. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on June 28, 2022. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
