2022 -100 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING BULLETPROOF VESTS PROGRAM FUNDING <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $59,405 FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE <br />AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2023 GRANTS FUND <br />BUDGET FOR THE PURCHASE OF BULLETPROOF VESTS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it accepts a Bulletproof Vests Program funding in the amount of <br />$59,405 from the U.S. Department of Justice and appropriates said funds in the FY 2023 <br />Grants Fund Budget. <br />2. That the funds shall be used for the purchase of bulletproof vests. <br />3. That the funding appropriated hereby is reimbursement funding requiring <br />a dollar for dollar local match, which match shall be satisfied through funding previously <br />appropriated to the FY 2023 General Fund budgets for the Police Department ($50,000) <br />and the Sheriff s Office ($9,405). <br />4. That the Department of Finance is authorized to make such transfers <br />between the General Fund and the Grants Fund as are necessary to implement the <br />purpose of this ordinance, which is that after reimbursement is received, the purchase of <br />bulletproof vests shall have been funded 50% through the General Fund monies identified <br />as the local match and 50% through reimbursement from the funding appropriated by this <br />ordinance. <br />5. That revenues and expenditures in the FY 2023 Grants Fund budget are <br />increased by $59,405. <br />6. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on November 22, 2022. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
