AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $708,000 <br />FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2023 GRANTS FUND TO <br />PROVIDE FUNDING TO THE PORTSMOUTH SHERIFF'S OFFICE FOR THE <br />SALARIES AND BENEFITS OF TWELVE FULL -TIME SCHOOL RESOURCE <br />OFFICERS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts a grant in the amount of $708,000 from the Virginia <br />Department of Criminal Justice Services and appropriates said funds in the FY 2023 Grants <br />Fund. <br />2. That the grant funds shall be used by the Sheriff's Office to fund twelve <br />(12) full -time School Resource Officer positions. <br />That no local match is required for the funds. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2023 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $708,000. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on November 22, 2022. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
