& " . 22 -82 <br />AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING WITH APPRECIATION A BEQUEST IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $176,000 FROM THE ESTATE OF MADHAVI K. CHARI AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS TO THE FY 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET <br />FOR USE BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, <br />RESCUE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts with appreciation a bequest in the amount of <br />$176,000 from the Estate of Madhavi K. Chari and appropriates said funds to the FY 2023 <br />General Fund Budget. <br />2. That $88,000 of the said funds shall be used to supplement the Police <br />Department budget and $88,000 of the said funds shall be used to supplement the <br />Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services budget. <br />3. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2023 General Fund <br />Budget are increased by $176,000. <br />4. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on September 27, 2022. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
