R -22 -32 <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE CLERK OF THE <br />PORTSMOUTH CIRCUIT COURT FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF AUDIOVISUAL <br />UPGRADES TO THE COURTROOMS IN THE JUDICIAL COMPLEX. <br />WHEREAS, the City owns the Portsmouth Judicial Complex located at 1345 Court <br />Street; and <br />WHEREAS, the Clerk of Circuit Court collects fees for providing secure remote access <br />to Portsmouth land records and court records, and has requested permission from the City to use <br />a portion of those fees to perform Audio/Visual upgrades in the Judicial Complex courtrooms; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the upgrades will improve the administration of justice; and <br />WHEREAS, the upgrades will be made at no cost to the City; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that it approves and authorizes the Clerk of Circuit Court's performance of <br />Audio/Visual upgrades to the courtrooms in the Judicial Complex; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to enter into a <br />Memorandum of Understanding with the Clerk of Circuit Court to govern the performance of the <br />upgrades. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on <br />December 13, 2022. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
