R -20 -35 <br />A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY'S 2021 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE <br />PACKAGE FOR THE 117th CONGRESS. <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress deals with a broad range of issues that affect <br />local government both directly and indirectly; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both Portsmouth <br />specifically and local governments in general; and <br />WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's congressional <br />delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the Senate and the House of <br />Representatives. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that it endorses the positions listed on Exhibit A hereto for inclusion in the Legislative <br />Package for consideration by the 117th Congress and directs that both this Resolution and the <br />Legislative Package be forwarded to the City's congressional representatives. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and /or his designee(s) are hereby <br />authorized and directed to provide necessary input and clarification during the 117`h Congress <br />session and to carry out other activities as needed to assist in attaining the goals and objectives <br />contained in the City's 2021 Legislative Package. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at an electronic meeting <br />held on November 10, 2020. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
