2019 -67� <br />AN ORDINANCE (1) ACCEPTING AN ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS <br />GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $630,000 FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />HOMELAND SECURITY /FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY <br />AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2020 GRANTS FUND FOR <br />USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND EMERGENCY <br />SERVICES; AND (2) TRANSFERRING $63,000 FROM THE FY 2020 GENERAL <br />FUND BUDGET FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND <br />EMERGENCY SERVICES TO THE FY 2020 GRANTS FUND TO SERVE AS <br />THE REQUIRED LOCAL MATCH FOR THE SAID GRANT. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />I . That it hereby accepts an Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of <br />$630,000 from the Department of Homeland Security /Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency and appropriates said amount in the FY 2020 Grants Fund for use by the <br />Department of Fire, Rescue & Emergency Services to protect health and safety. <br />2. That it hereby appropriates and transfers $63,000 from the FY 2020 <br />General Fund Budget for the Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services to the <br />FY 2020 Grants Fund to serve as the required local match for the Assistance to <br />Firefighters Grant. <br />3. That a 10% local match of the total project cost is required as a condition <br />of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant, which match will be satisfied by the funds from <br />the FY 2020 General Fund Budget for the Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency <br />Services appropriated by this ordinance. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2020 Grants Fund are <br />increased by $693,000. <br />5. That transfers out of the FY 2020 General Fund Budget for the <br />Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services are increased by $63,000. <br />6. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on September 24, 2019. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
