ORMMU 201825 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE AMENDMENT OF THE OVERALL AND THIRD QUARTER FY 2018 PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS (PPS) GENERAL FUND OPERATING BUDGETS AND THE FY 2018 CITY OF PORTSMOUTH CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND BUDGET BY AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $520,000 BETWEEN CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE PPS GENERAL FUND BUDGETS, AND BY FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $636,000 FROM THE PPS GENERAL FUND BUDGETS TO THE WOODROW WILSON HIGH SCHOOL RESTROOM RENOVATION PROJECT IN THE EDUCATION CATEGORY OF THE FY 2018 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND. WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia appropriated funding by classification for the Portsmouth Public Schools (PPS) for the FY 2018 school year; and WHEREAS, PPS has requested that Council authorize the transfer of $520,000 within the FY 2018 PPS overall and Third Quarter General Fund Operating Budgets from the Administration, Attendance & Health classification to the Pupil Transportation and Operation & Maintenance classifications for the purpose of supporting payroll needs; and WHEREAS, PPS has also identified the need to repurpose PPS operational funding of $636,000 to the City Capital Improvement Fund, abandoning the original appropriation purpose of acquiring mobile units for relocation of 6th grade students from an elementary school campus to a middle school campus; and WHEREAS, the repurposed funding would now be removed from the PPS General Fund and placed in the City Capital Improvement Fund to support the renovation of the Wilson High School restrooms to achieve ADA compliance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That it authorizes the amendment of the overall and Third Quarter FY 2018 Portsmouth Public Schools General Fund Operating Budgets through the transfer of $520,000 from the Administration, Attendance & Health classification to the Pupil Transportation classification ($440,000) and the Operations & Maintenance classification ($80,000). 2. That it authorizes the amendment of the overall and Third Quarter FY 2018 Portsmouth Public Schools General Fund Operating Budgets through the transfer of the total amount of $636,000 from the Operation & Maintenance classification ($506,000) and the Technology classification ($130,000) to the City of Portsmouth FY 2018 Capital Improvement Fund budget.
