AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING AN EMPLOYMENT FOR TANF <br />PARTICIPANTS GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $122,269.64 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING <br />SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2019 GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES TO ASSIST TANF PARTICIPANTS <br />WITH PREPARING TO ENTER THE WORKFORCE AND MAINTAINING <br />EMPLOYMENT. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That it hereby accepts an Employment for TANF Participants grant in the <br />amount of $122,269.64 from the Virginia Department of Social Services and appropriates <br />said funds in the FY 2019 Grants Fund. <br />2. That the grant funds shall be used by the Department of Social Services to <br />assist TANF participants with preparing to enter the workforce and maintaining <br />employment. <br />3. That a local cash and /or in -kind match in the amount of $40,756.55 is <br />required as a condition of receiving the grant funds, which match has already been funded <br />as part of the FY 2019 budget for the Department of Social Services. <br />4. That estimated revenues and expenditures in the FY 2019 Grants Fund <br />Budget are increased by $122,269.64. <br />5. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on August 28, 2018. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
