< ~ ~~ +, r; ,~ ~ 2015-24 <br />.g <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 7-103, 7-104, 7-105, 7-105.1, 7-131, 7- <br />132, 7-133, AND 7-135 OF CHAPTER 7 AND APPENDIX A OF THE CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (2006) TO ESTABLISH OR <br />MODIFY FEES FOR BUILDING PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br />1. That Section. 7-103 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (2006) <br />be amended to read as follows: <br />Sec. 7-103. Fee for certificate of occupancy and commercial reinspection. <br />(a) The fee for a certificate of occupancy required by the building code for an <br />existing structure shall be as set forth in appendix A to this Code. When a certificate of <br />occupancy is issued pursuant to the satisfactory completion of final inspections pursuant <br />to a building permit issued, no fee shall be required for the certificate of occupancy. <br />(b) The fee for a temporary certificate of occupancy issued by the Building <br />Official before the completion of the work covered by a permit shall be as set forth in <br />appendix A to this Code. <br />(c) The fee for the first renewal of a temporary certificate of occupancy shall <br />be as set forth in appendix A to this Code. No fee shall be charged for subsequent <br />renewals. <br />(d) Before a commercial property is occupied by a new tenant or owner, or by <br />the same tenant or owner, if the property undergoes a change of occupancy as defined by <br />the building code and a building permit is not required, or is vacant for a period of 90 <br />days or more a commercial reinspection including plumbing, mechanical, electrical and <br />building inspections shall be required. The fee for a commercial reinspection shall be as <br />set forth in appendix A to this Code. <br />2. That Section 7-104 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (2006) <br />be amended to read as follows: <br />Sec. 7-104. Fees for review of construction plans. <br />In addition to the permit fees prescribed in this article, there shall be a fee for the <br />review of construction plans for all matters for which permits are mandated by the <br />building code, including, but not limited to, building permits, electrical permits, plumbing <br />permits and mechanical permits, in accord with the fee schedule set forth in appendix A <br />to this Code for the following categories: <br />(1) New construction and additions to one-family and two-family buildings: <br />a. Under 2,000 square feet. <br />
