~~ 2014-51 <br />AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A TEN FOOT WIDE ALLEY LOCATED ON THE <br />SOUTH SIDE OF THE 1800 BLOCK OF KING STREET. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has requested the closure of a ten foot wide alley <br />located on the south side of the 1800 block of King Street, as hereafter described; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, at a meeting held on May 6, 2014, <br />recommended approval of the closure and vacation of the alley, which is described more <br />particularly as follows: <br />Beginning at a point on the southern right-of--way of King Street (42' R/W), said <br />point being located N 87°00'56" E 109.30' from the southeastern intersection of <br />Yorktown Avenue (60' R/W) and. King Street; thence with the right-of--way of <br />King Street, N 87°00'56" E 10.00'. to a point; thence leaving the right-of--way of <br />King Street, S 03°02' 16" E 104.90' to a point; thence S 87°06' 18" W 10.00' to a <br />point; thence N 03°02' 16" W 104.88' to the point of beginning; the said alley <br />containing 1,049 square feet or 0.024 acres. <br />WHEREAS, notice of the proposed closure and vacation has been given the adjoining <br />property owners in accordance with Section 15.2-2006 of the Code of Virginia, as amended. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia that said alley be closed and vacated as a public street and right of way. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute <br />such deeds or easements as he may deem appropriate and necessary to convey such rights as the <br />City may have in said closed alley. as maybe required by the adjacent property owners. <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held on June <br />10, 2014. <br />Teste: <br />City Clerk <br />
