<br />R-II-05 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN OPERATING <br />AGREEMENT AND TO EXECUTE SUCH OTHER DOCUMENTS AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO <br />FORMALIZE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, THE VIRGINIA <br />PORT AUTHORITY, AND OTHER LOCALITIES WITH RESPECT TO MARITIME INCIDENT <br />RESPONSES. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth and other localities supply personnel to the Maritime Incident <br />Response Team (MIRT) in order to address local maritime emergencies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the MIR T is coordinated through the Virginia Port Authority; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Virginia Port Authority and the member localities desire to enter into an <br />Operating Agreement that formalizes the responsibilities of each participating jurisdiction and the <br />Virginia Port Authority. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />that it hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into an operating agreement on its behalf with the <br />member localities ofthe Maritime Incident Response Team and the Virginia Port Authority to formalize <br />the Team's responsibilities and those ofthe Virginia Port Authority with respect to the operations of the <br />Maritime Incident Response Team. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held on February 8, <br /> <br />2011. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
