<br />R-11-37 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION (1) COMMITTING $1,250,000 IN FUNDS APPROPRIATED IN THE FY 2011- <br />12 CAP IT AL IMPROVEMENTS FUND AS MATCHING FUNDS FOR A $1,250,000 GRANT IN <br />REVENUE SHARING FUNDS FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION (VDOT) TOWARDS THE DESIGN OF THE NORTHBOUND LANE <br />REPLACEMENT OF CHURCHLAND BRIDGE AND (2) REQUESTING VDOT TO <br />ESTABLISH AN URBAN SYSTEM HIGHWAY PROJECT FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE <br />NORTHBOUND SIDE OF THE CHURCHLAND BRIDGE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, revenue sharing funds are available through the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation (VDOT) on a one-to-one match for estimated design costs of $2,500,000 related to the <br />replacement of the northbound lanes of the Churchland Bridge; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, VDOT procedures require that the City commit to providing $1,250,000 as the <br />City's match for the estimated design costs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has previously appropriated sufficient funds in the FY 2011-12 Capital <br />Improvements Fund to cover S4ch costs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, VDOT procedures also require that the City adopt a resolution requesting that <br />VDOT establish the Churchland Bridge project as an urban highway project. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />that it commits the sum of $1,250,000 in the FY 2011-2012 Capital Improvements Fund as the City's <br />qualifying match for revenue sharing funds for the design costs of new northbound lanes of the <br />Churchland Bridge. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Virginia Department of Transportation is requested to <br />establish the replacement of northbound lanes of the Churchland Bridge as an urban highway project. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held on November <br />22,2011. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
