<br />ORDINANCE ..2010-8~" <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE IN THE FY 2010-2011 PORTSMOUTH <br />PUBLIC SCHOOLS BUDGET $4,019,217 IN MONIES RECEIVED FROM THE <br />U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION JOBS FUND. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That the sum of $4,019,217, apportioned to the Portsmouth Public Schools <br />by the U.S. Department of Education for the Education Jobs Fund, is hereby appropriated <br />in the Public Schools budget of the FY 2010-2011 Operating Budget, and estimated <br />revenues in said budget are increased by $4,019,217. <br /> <br />2. That no matching funds are required as a condition of this apportionment. <br /> <br />3. That the funds shall be used only for compensation and benefits and other <br />expenses, such as support services, necessary to retain existing employees, to recall or <br />rehire former employees, and to hire new employees, in order to provide early childhood, <br />elementary, or secondary educational and related services. <br /> <br />4. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on October 26,2010. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
