<br />R-I0-33 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION TO ALLOW THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH TO PURCHASE <br />COMMODITIES FROM A COOPERATIVE PROCUREMENT AGREEMENT <br />ESTABLISHED BY THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL AND TO <br />AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS <br />RELATED TO THIS TRANSACTION. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Portsmouth City Code Section 12-177 allows for the purchasing of <br />commodities through the use of cooperative procurement agreements by other local <br />governing bodies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the it has been determined that it will be to the City's advantage to <br />purchase new fire apparatus through the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC), an <br />entity incorporated under the laws of the State of Texas to conduct cooperative <br />procurements on behalf of other local governing bodies throughout the continental United <br />States; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, HGAC has contracted and procured fire apparatus that meet or <br />exceed the standards and needs for the Portsmouth Fire Department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to purchase from HGAC contracts, City Council <br />authorization is required prior to the execution of an agreement with the Houston- <br />Galveston Area Council. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia that the City Manager or his designee is authorized to enter into an <br />agreement with the I-Iouston-Galveston Area COlmcil for the procurement of fire <br />apparatus and such commodities in the future as he may deem appropriate and for which <br />funds have been.appropriated. <br /> <br />ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held <br />on September 28,2010. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br />
