<br />(b) After the issuance of a certificate of appropriateness, city zoning inspectors shall <br />from time to time inspect the alteration or construction approved by such certificate and shall <br />give prompt notice to the applicant of any work not in accordance with such certificate or in <br />violation of any ordinances of the city. If violations are not corrected in a timely manner, the <br />certificate and building permit may be revoked. <br /> <br />(c )The zoning administrator, building official and designated city staff are authorized to <br />order that work be stopped and that an appropriate application be filed or reviewed in any case <br />where, in the inspector or designated staffs opinion, the work being performed is inconsistent <br />with the character of the present structure or the prevailing character of the surroundings and the <br />historic district or when it appears that the work exceeds the scope of an approved certificate of <br />appropriateness. The Committee, upon review of the application may require the property owner <br />to remedy such violations by restoring the affected property to its previous appearance. <br /> <br />Sec. 40-58.1. Certificate of Appropriateness; violations; civil penalties. <br /> <br />(a) In accordance with section 15.2-2209 of the Code of Virginia, the following <br />uniform schedule of civil penalties for violations of specified provisions of the zoning ordinance <br />is adopted. The offenses does not include any zoning violation resulting in injury to any persons, <br />and the existence of these civil penalties shall not preclude action by the zoning administrator <br />under section 15 .2-2286( 4) of the Code of Virginia or action by the governing body under <br />section 15.2-2208 of the Code of Virginia.. <br /> <br />(1) Failure to obtain a certificate of appropriateness for the removal and/or <br />installation of roofing materials: <br /> <br />Initial offense. . . $100.00 <br /> <br />Continuing offense. . . $500.00 <br /> <br />Repeat offense. . . $500.00 <br /> <br />(2) Failure to obtain a certificate of appropriateness for the removal and/or <br />installation of wall siding materials: <br /> <br />Initial offense. . . $100.00 <br /> <br />Continuing offense. . . $500.00 <br /> <br />Repeat offense. . . $500.00 <br /> <br />(3) Failure to obtain a certificate of appropriateness for the removal and/or <br />installation of windows: <br /> <br />Initial offense. . . $200.00 <br /> <br />Continuing offense. . . $500.00 <br /> <br />Repeat offense. . . $500.00 <br /> <br />(4) Failure to obtain a certificate of appropriateness for the removal and/or <br />installation of exterior doors: <br /> <br />Initial offense... $100.00 <br /> <br />Continuing offense. . . $500.00 <br />
