<br />SECTION 7. COMPLEMENTS OF FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS <br /> <br />The authorized complement of the Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services <br />Department shall be one (1) Chief, two (2) Deputy Chiefs, nine (9) Battalion <br />Chiefs, thirty-three (33) Captains, forty-five (45) Lieutenants, twenty-seven (27) <br />Fire Fighter/Paramedics, and one hundred sixteen (116) Fire Fighters for a total <br />sworn complement of two hundred thirty-three (233). <br /> <br />The authorized complement of the Police Department shall be one (1) Chief, two <br />(2) Assistant Chiefs, four (4) Captains, thirteen (13) Lieutenants, twenty-seven <br />(27) Sergeants, and two hundred three (203) Police Officers, for a total sworn <br />complement of two hundred fifty (250). <br /> <br />SECTION 8. SALARIES FOR UNCLASSIFIED POSITIONS <br /> <br />The annual salary rates of the following unclassified positions shall be the amount <br />stated herein: <br /> <br />City Manager <br />City Attorney <br />City Clerk <br />City Assessor <br />Mayor <br />Council Member <br /> <br />July 1, 2008 <br />$ 164,800 <br />$ 147,011 <br />$ 82,656 <br />$ 105,241 <br />$ 25,000 <br />$ 23,000 <br /> <br />In addition to the base salary, the City Manager is hereby authorized an annual <br />amount of $9,600 for car allowance and $3,600 for general expenses. Further, the <br />City Manager is hereby authorized a lump sum contribution of $14,000 for <br />deferred compensation. <br /> <br />In addition to the base salary, the City Attorney receives family medical insurance <br />paid by the City and is hereby authorized an annual amount of $3,000 for car <br />allowance. <br /> <br />SECTION 9. ADJUSTMENTS TO RETIREMENT ALLOWANCES <br /> <br />The adjustments of retirement allowances as prescribed in Sections 30-122 and <br />30-243 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, (2006) shall be increased <br />by 1.5% effective July 1, 2008. <br /> <br />14 <br />
