<br />~;lj, ..~t.MANCE' '" ~ I)" <br />n~H' '.. 2Q9JL-:..71 <br />U~dJ ,\ " " N"_ -. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 37 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (2006) BY AMENDING SECTION 37-132 <br />THEREOF TO INCREASE CERTAIN RATES FOR THE USE OF TAXICABS. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That Section 37-132 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />(2006) be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 37-132. Rates established. <br /> <br />(a) No person owning, operating, driving or controlling a taxicab within the <br />limits of the city shall charge an amount to exceed the following rates offare: <br /> <br />(1) For the first one-sixth mile or fraction thereof: $2.15. <br />(2) For each one-sixth mile or fraction thereof in addition to the first one-sixth <br />mile: $0.40. <br />(3) For each piece of baggage other than one handbag per passenger: $0.25. <br />(4) For each package unless passenger transports package to and from cabs and <br />holds package on lap in transit: $0.10. <br />(5) For each footlocker or trunk: $0.50. <br />(6) For each one minute of waiting time or fraction thereof: $0.30. <br /> <br />(b) If hired on an hourly basis, the rate of $18.00 per hour or fraction thereof <br />shall apply. <br /> <br />(c) Taxicabs licensed in another city or county bringing passengers into the city <br />or picking up passengers in the city and delivering such passengers to the city wherein <br />such taxicab is duly licensed shall charge the rates prescribed by the city or county in <br />which they are licensed. The rates are per vehicle charges and shall not be multiplied by <br />the number of passengers carried. <br /> <br />2.
