<br />entitled, or who parks a vehicle displaying such a permit at any time when the holder of <br />the permit is not entitled to hold it shall be guilty of a violation of this section. Violators <br />of any provision of this section shall be subject to the penalties provided in section 22- <br />578. <br /> <br />(e) Wherever metered parking is in effect in any portion of a district that <br />becomes subject to the restrictions of this section, the parking spaces controlled by meters <br />may be exempted from the provisions of this section so long as the control by meters <br />continues. <br /> <br />(t) Any residential parking district created prior to the adoption of this <br />provision shall remain in full force and effect as if adopted hereunder. Such district may <br />be expanded or reduced in size by the city manager in accordance with this section. <br /> <br />2. That Section 22-566 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />(2006) be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 22-566. Parking for more than forty-eight hours. <br /> <br />(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to leave or cause to be left any motor <br />vehicle for more than 48 hours in any public street. If any such person fails to remove the <br />vehicle within 24 hours after being notified so to do by any police officer, then every day <br />which shall elapse thereafter without such removal shall constitute a separate offense. <br /> <br />(b) The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply in any residential_parking <br />district created under section 22-567. I, provided the motor vehicle displays a valid <br />residential parking district decal or sticker. <br /> <br />3.
