<br />(5) Within 30 days following the adoption of the ordinance designating the <br />historic district or property, the owners of each designated historic property, and <br />the owners and occupants of each building, structure, site, or object located within <br />a designated historic district, shall be given written notification of such <br />designation by the commission. The notice shall apprise said owners and <br />occupants of the necessity of obtaining a certificate of appropriateness prior to <br />undertaking any material change in appearance of the historic property designated <br />or within the historic district designated. <br /> <br />(6) The commission shall also notify all city necessary agencies of any new <br />historic designation. <br /> <br />(7) Whenever the regulations of this article require more restrictive standards <br />than are required in or under any other statute or ordinance, the requirements of <br />this chapter shall govern to the extent permitted by law. Whenever the provisions <br />of any other statute or ordinance require more restrictive standards than are <br />required by this chapter, the provisions of such statute or ordinance shall govern. <br /> <br />Sec. 40-53.1. Existing Historic Districts. <br /> <br />The prior designation as local historic districts of the following districts shall <br />continue in full force and effect: <br /> <br />(i) aIde Towne Historic District; <br />(ii) Truxtun Historic District; <br />(iii) Cradock Historic District; <br />(iv) Park View Historic District; <br />(v) Port Norfolk Historic District. <br /> <br />Sec. 40-53. 2 Historic district; uses. <br /> <br />Permitted uses in the historic districts shall be governed according to three sub- <br />districts, as shown on the zoning map: <br /> <br />(a) Historic Residential (HR). Uses shall be limited to single-family <br />dwellings, duplexes or multifamily dwellings, accessory structures to the residential uses, <br />home occupations and family care residences for adults and children and in the aIde <br />Towne and Port Norfolk Historic Districts, bed and breakfast inns. Churches, schools, <br />day care centers and two-family dwellings, multifamily dwellings and attached row <br />dwellings shall be permitted only upon issuance of a use permit. A single dwelling unit in <br />a building used as a church or school shall be permitted only upon issuance of a use <br />permit that specifies that purpose. <br /> <br />(b) Historic Limited Office (HLO). Permitted uses shall be limited to <br />professional offices, family care residences, as defined in section 40-22, single-family <br />dwellings, home occupations and accessory uses, as defined in section 40-22.
