<br />c. New Employees <br /> <br />All newly hired employees will be considered probationary for the <br />first 12 months of employment. <br /> <br />Employees should be hired at the minimum range of the pay grade <br />classification. Requests to hire above the minimum will be evaluated <br />on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the Human Resource <br />Management Department. <br /> <br />d. Promotions - General Employees <br /> <br />When an employee is promoted to a classification one grade higher <br />than the present classification, the employee will receive an increase <br />of 5% of the current salary. If the promotion is two or more grades <br />above the former classification, the employee will receive an increase <br />of 10% of the former salary. An employee's base salary may not be <br />less than the minimum or more than the maximum for the grade to <br />which promoted. Special circumstances may be reviewed with <br />Human Resource Management and adjusted by the City Manager as is <br />deemed necessary for business operations. <br /> <br />e. Promotions - Sworn Police and Fire Employees <br /> <br />The following percentages will be used for computing salary <br />increases at the time of promotion for sworn Police and Fire <br />Employees: <br /> <br />Police Officer to Sergeant 10% <br />Police Sergeant to Lieutenant 15% <br />Police Lieutenant to Captain 10% <br /> <br />Fire Fighter to Lieutenant 10% <br />Fire Fighter/Paramedic to Fire Lieutenant/Paramedic 10% <br />Fire Lieutenant to Captain 15% <br />Fire Captain to Battalion Chief 10% <br /> <br />6 <br />
