The fees and charges for worked performed In city cemeteries shall be as established in section 11.1-5 of this code. 2. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) is hereby amended by the adoption of a new Section 9-29.1 thereto to read as follows: Sec. 9-29.1 Burial permit fee. . A burial permit fee of $200 shall be paid for each adult burial in a city cemetery identified in section 9-26. No burial permit fee shall be charged for the burial of children in child graves having the dimensions established in section 11.1-5 or for the burial of individuals verified as indigent by the department of social services. A burial permit fee of $100 shall be paid for the burial of cremated remains. The person or entity responsible for the opening and closing of graves shall collect and remit the fee to the city treasurer no later than the fifteenth of the month following the burial. The city treasurer shall deposit funds so collected into the cemetery trust fund established pursuant to section 9- 29. 3. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) lS hereby amended by the adoption of a new Section 11.1-9 thereto to read as follows: Sec. 11.1-9. City cemetery fees and charges. (a) The following schedule of fees and charges is hereby established for opening and closing graves for ground burials in city cemeteries: (1) Adult graves: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.-- $500 (2) Adult graves: Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.--$600 (3) Adult graves: Sunday and state and federal holidays, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. --$750 (4) Child graves: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.--$300 for a grave not exceeding a length of 48 inches, a width of 40 inches, and a depth of 48 inches. (5) Child graves: Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. --$300 for a grave not exceeding a length of 48 inches, a width of 40 inches, and a depth of 48 inches. .
