DECLARATION OF LOCAL EMERGENCY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth,Virginia is facing a condition of extreme <br />peril to the lives, safety, and property of the residents of the City in connection with an <br />extreme weather condition commonly known as "Hurricane Charley" and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as a result of this extreme peril, the declaration of a local emergency <br />is necessary to permit the full powers of govermnent to deal effectively with this <br />condition of peril; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS DECLARED, pursuant to the powers granted by <br />Section 2-658 of the Code of the City of Portsmomh and Article V of the Portsmouth <br />City Charter, that a LOCAL EMERGENCY exists in the City of Portsmouth, effective <br />immediately this 14 Day of August, 2004. <br /> <br /> All government officials are hereby vested with such authority as may be granted <br />by law by reason of this declaration.. · <br /> <br />~Emergency <br /> <br />Services <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk ~,~ <br /> <br /> <br />
