AN ORDINANCE TO ACCEPT A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $337,270 <br />AWARDED BY THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA AND TO <br />APPROPRIATE SAID FUNDS IN THE GRANTS FUND FOR THE PURCHASE <br />OF EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR THE POLICE AND FIRE <br />DEPARTMENTS AND THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the City of Portsmouth accepts a grant in the amount of $337,270 <br />awarded by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management from its 2004 allocation <br />of funds by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. <br /> <br /> 2. That the sum of $337,270 is appropriated in the Grants Fund for the <br />purchase of protective and response equipment and supplies for domestic preparedness <br />by the Police and Fire Departments and the Department of Public Health for use in <br />incidents involving weapons of mass destruction and other forms of terrorism. <br /> <br />3. That this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its adoption. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held <br />on August 24, 2004. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
