AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING A PORTION OF KING STREET <br />BETWEEN GODWIN STREET AND ARMSTRONG STREE~[. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has made <br />application to close a portion of King Street, as hereafter described; and <br /> <br /> WItEREAS, the Planning Commission, at a meeting held on July 17, 2003, <br />recommended approval of the closure and vacation of said portion of King Street; and <br /> <br /> WltEREAS, notice of the proposed closure and vacation has been given the <br />adjoining property owners in accordance with Section 15.2-2006 of the Code of Virginia, <br />as amended. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council 0fthe City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia that a portion of King Street be closed and vacated as a public street <br />and right of way as follows: <br /> <br />KING STREET <br /> <br /> All that portion of King Street located between the eastern side of Godwin <br />Street and the eastern side of Armstrong Street as shown on an Exhibit attached <br />hereto entitled "EXHIBIT SHOWING PROPOSED STREET CLOSURE OF A <br />PORTION OF KING STREET BETWEEN ARMSTRONG AND GODWIN <br />STREETS FOR PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING <br />AUTHORITY, dated May 7, 2003 and prepared by Hoggard/Eure Associates, <br />P.C. The property is shown on Tax Map 79. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTItER ORDAINED, that the City of Portsmouth hereby reserves an <br />easement in King Street hereby closed and vacated for the installation, operation, <br />maintenance and replacement of public utilities, which said easements may be released, <br />vacated or relocated as needed by the City Manager of the City &Portsmouth as he may <br />in his discretion deem appropriate and in the best interest of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virgin/a, at a meeting held on <br />July 22, 2003. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
