R-03-66 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE FIRST AMENDED AND RESTATED REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE MIDTOWN REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT. WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adOpted June 25, 2002, approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Midtown Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia ("the Plan"); and WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council for consideratiOn and approval, a copy of a proposed First Amended and Restated RedeveloPment Plan for the Project area ("Amended Plan"); and and WHEREAS, the Amended Plan proposes to designate Properties as "To Be Acquired"; WItEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, religion, familial status, handicap, sex or national origin; and WItEREAS, in the judgment of this Council, it is in the interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said Amended Plan be approved. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That, regarding the Amended Plan, it is hereby found: (a) That the objectives of the Midtown RedeVelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the adoption of said Amended Plan. (b) That the Amended Plan meets the requirements of a plan for an urban renewal project pursuant to Chapter 1 of Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. / That the First Amended and Restated Redevelopment Plan for the Midtown Redevelopment Project, having been duly reviewed and considered, is hereby approved and · adopted and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a copy of said Amended Plan with the minutes of this meeting.
