R-03-62 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH'S <br />APPLICATION FOR A U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE WEED AND SEED <br />GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $175,000 FOR FY 2004 AND IN A SIMILAR <br />AMOUNT FOR EACH OF THE FOUR ENSUING FISCAL YEARS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has previously been a recipient of <br />Weed and Seed Grant funds from the U.S. Departrnent lustice for the improvement of the <br />City's neighborhoods; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City wishes to apply for a similar Weed and Seed Grant in the <br />amount of $175,000 for FY 2004 for the purpose of implementing law enforcement <br />community policing, neighborhood restoration, and prevention intervention and treatment <br />components of the long-term strategy in the fifteen designated Nehemiah Vision <br />neighborhoods; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City also intends to apply for Weed and Seed Grants in FY <br />2005-2008. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that it hereby endorses the City's application for $175,000 in <br />federal Weed and Seed Grant funds for FY 2004 and for each of the four ensuing fiscal <br />years. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager (or his designee) is <br />authorized to execute such applications and other documents as maY be required to <br />complete the application process for a Weed and Seed Grant in FY 2004 and in the four <br />ensuing fiscal years. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a meeting held <br />on October 28, 2003. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
