AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 37 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS 37-62, 37-92, 37- <br />132, and 37-250(a) THEREOF PERTAINING TO TAXICAB TOW TRUCK FEES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> I. That Sections 37-62, 37-92, 37-132, and 37-250(a) of the Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virgkfia (1988) be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 37-62. Applications. <br /> <br /> All applications for certificates of public convenience and necessity required by <br />this division shall be made in writing to the chief of police upon forms prescribed and to <br />be provided by the chief of police. The application shall contain the name, date of birth, <br />social security number, sex and residence of the applicant. A processing fee of $20.00 <br />shall accompany each application. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-92. Application. <br /> <br /> Application for a permit required by this division shall be in writing, sworn to and <br />presented to the chief of police and shall state the full name, current residence, place(s) of <br />residence for the previous ten (10) years prior to moving to the applicant's present <br />address, age, height, color, color of eyes and hair, sex, place of birth, public vehicle <br />employer for which the applicant will be driving, name and address of any other place of <br />employment at time of application, length of residence in the city, whether or not the <br />applicant is a citizen of the United States, whether or not the applicant has been <br />previously employed or licensed as a public vehicle driver, and if so, whether the <br />applicant's driver's license or public vehicle driver's permit has ever been suspended, <br />revoked, or refused in this or any other state, whether or not the applicant is addicted to <br />the use of intoxicating liquors or drugs, and such other information as may be required. <br />The application shall be endorsed by the prospective employer of the applicant. A <br />processing fee of $20.00 shall accompany each application. Any false statement made in <br />any such affidavit shall be promptly reported by the chief of police to the <br />commonwealth's attorney. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-132. Rates established. <br /> <br /> No person owning, operating, driving or controlling a taxicab within the limits of <br />the city shall charge an amount to exceed the following rates of fare: <br /> <br /> For the first one-sixth mile or fraction thereof ............................. $1.85 <br /> For each one-sixth mile or fraction thereof in addition to the first one-sixth <br /> ......................... 0.30 <br /> For each piece of baggage other than one (1) handbag per passenger 0.25 <br /> <br /> <br />
