Norfolk, Portsmouth, South Norfolk, Suffolk, <br /> and Virginia Beach, hereinafter referred Lo as "region", as authorized by Article t.1 <br /> (codified by the Virginia Code Commission as Article 1) of CP~prer 25 of Title 25 of <br /> the Code of Virginia as adopted by Chapter 455 of the Acrs of the General Assembly <br /> of Virginia, Sections 15-891.1 to 15-891.9, of 1950; Now, Therefore, <br /> <br /> For the purposes of planning the physical, economic and social developmen5 <br /> <br /> of the region, Nanse~ond, Norfolk County, ~rincess ADze, Norfolk, Portsmouth, South <br /> Norfolk, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach hereby covenant and agree, each with the other <br /> as follows: <br /> <br /> §1. That there is hereby created a regional planning and economic develop- <br /> men5 c~ission ro be known as The Southeastern Virginia Regional Planning and Economic <br /> Development Conzmission, which is hereinafter referred to as "Commission". The Commis- <br /> sion shall consist of sixteen members, two of whom shall be appointed by the Board <br /> of Supervisors of each of the following counties, Nansemond, NorfoL% and Princess Ar~ne; <br /> and two of whom shall be appointed by the Councils of each of the following cities, <br /> Norfolk, Portsmouth, South Norfolk, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. (>ne of the members <br /> appointed by the Boards of Supervisors of each of the above counties shall be a member <br /> of its governing body and one shall be a member of its planning commission or a citizen <br /> and residenx of the county which he has been appointed to represent on this Commission <br /> and w~no holds no office of profit ~Luder its government.
