AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CFJkPTER II, SECTION 26, AND C~iPTER III, <br />SECTION 2, OF THE LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE OF T~ CITY OF PORTS~OU~"H, <br />ADOPTED FEBRUARY 15, 1955, AS A~DE0, SO AS TO CLASSIFY UNATTF~NDED <br />COIN-IN-SLOT WAS~ING MACHINES AND DRYERS AS SLOT 5~CHINES AND PRO- <br />VIDE A SPECIFIC LICENSE TAX T~KEREON OF TEN D~LLARS PER ~.2kCF-INE. <br /> <br />Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br /> <br />Chapter II, Section 26, and Chapter III, Section 2, of the License Tax Ordinance of <br /> <br />the City of Portsmouth~ adopted February 15, 1955, as amended, be amended and re- <br /> <br />ordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />26° SLOT ~CHiNES. <br /> <br /> CHAPTER II <br /> <br />Each stot machine, which plays music only, $5.00. <br /> <br /> Each slot machine, registering the weight of a person, $5°00° <br /> <br /> Each coin-in-slot vending machine, dispensing merchandise only and having <br />no amusement device, ~5.00. <br /> <br /> Each slot machine used solely for the safe keeping of packages, bags~ etCo <br />for each compartment or separate receptacle~ $0.50. <br /> <br /> Each slot n~chine which plays music and shows motion pictures only, $I0~00. <br /> <br /> Each coin-in-slot machine used for the washing and drying of clothes, where <br />there is not a paid attendant on the premises at all times, $10.O0. <br /> <br /> Each slot machine of any other type or device, in which coins are deposited <br />which may be allowed by the laws of this State, ~wenty-five ($25°00) dollars. (Pay <br />telephones excepted.) <br /> <br /> Each coin-in-slot vending machine dispensing merchandise only and havlng <br />no amusemen5 device, in which coins of five cents or over are deposited, $5°00, and <br />in which one cent is deposited, $0.~0. <br /> <br /> Each coin-in-slot radio used in hotel or rooming house, $1.00 per year° <br /> <br /> ~ne license card or license plate shall always be displayed on and attached <br />~o the slot machine, and any person having a slot machine on his premises or in his <br />possession without having such license plate displayed on the slot machine, shall be <br />subjec~ to a fine of ~10.O0, and each day shall constitute a separate violation there- <br />of~ Not prorated. <br /> <br /> <br />
