CHAPTER 16ol <br /> <br />~JNICIPAL COURTS <br />Article I. In General° <br /> <br /> Section 18o1-1. ~kn~icipal Courts~ <br /> <br /> Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1-a of Chapter IX of the Charter <br /> of the City of Portsmouth (Chapter 158 of the Acts of Assembly of 1960), ~ud <br /> in conformity with Title 18ol of the Code of Virginia, there shall be the follow- <br /> ing municipal courts in and for the city~ from and after July 1, 1980: <br /> <br /> (a) NunicipaI Court, consisting of a <br /> <br /> (1) Police Division, <br /> <br /> (B) Traffic Division, and <br /> <br /> (3) Civil Division. <br /> <br /> (b) Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court° <br /> <br /> Section 1Sol-2o Jurisdiction, practice and procedure. <br /> <br /> The jurisdiction, practice and procedure of the municipal courts shall <br />be in accordance with Article 2 of Chapter 1 and Chapters 3, 8, ? and 8 of Title <br />1S.1 of the Code of Virginia, and such other general laws as may be applicable° <br />Section 16o1-3o High Constable. <br /> <br /> The High Constable elected by virtue of Section 79-a of Chapter VII of <br />the Charter of the City of Portsmouth shall serve process and perform all such <br />other duties for the municipal courts as may be necessary or required by general <br /> <br />Section 16.1-4o Courtrooms, offices, records, clerical help, etc. <br /> <br /> It shall be the duty of the City ~nager To desiEnate suitable ~urtroom~ <br />and offices for the Judges of the municipal courts, to make provisions for fur- <br />nishing all necessary furnitur% ~iling cabinets, dockets, books, stationery, etCo, <br /> <br /> <br />
