AN ORDINANCE TO AMAT~D SECTION 24-8 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1951, AS AMEND- ~D, SO AS TO PROVIDE NEW RATES FOR SEWAGE DISPOSAL SERVICE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Section 24-8 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1951, as amend- ed, be amended and reordained to read as follows: Section 24-8. Charges for sewage disposal service; rate schedule. (a) Any person contracting with the city for sewage disposal, or the owner, lessee or tenant, or some or all of the~,who uses or occupies any real estate which directly or indirectly is or has been connected with the sewage disposal system of the city, or from or on which originates or has originated sewage or industrial wastes, or other wastes, which directly or indirectly enters or will enter the sewage disposal system shall pay to the city for the use and services of such system the fees, rents and charges according to the following schedule of rates. Charges for sewage disposal service will be based upon the water consumed on the premises as measured by meters, used for this purpose, as follows: (1) For the first fifteen thousand cubic feet used in any one month, twelve cents per hundred cubic feet. (2) For any next quantity between fifteen thousand cubic feet and one million cubic feet used in any one month, nine cents per hundred cubic feet. (3) For any next quantity in excess of one mltlion cubic feet used in any one month, seven cents per hundred cubic feet. The minimum charge for such service shall be sixty cents per month. (b) Charges for dwelling units in premises with unmetered water connections will be as follows: Fixture rates applicable to sach dwelling unit: Per Quarter: First First First First First sink $ 0.90 each additional sink 0.50 toilet 0.60 each additional toilet 0.35 bathtub 0.50 each additional bathtub 0.35 lavatory 0.50 each additional lavatory 0.35 set of laundry tubs 0.50 each additional set of laundry tubs 0.35 The minimum charge for such service shall be sixty cents per month.
