AN ORDINANCE TO AMAT~D SECTION 24-8 OF THE CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1951, AS AMEND- <br />~D, SO AS TO PROVIDE NEW RATES FOR SEWAGE DISPOSAL <br />SERVICE <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that Section 24-8 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1951, as amend- <br />ed, be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> Section 24-8. Charges for sewage disposal service; rate schedule. <br /> <br /> (a) Any person contracting with the city for sewage disposal, or <br />the owner, lessee or tenant, or some or all of the~,who uses or occupies any <br />real estate which directly or indirectly is or has been connected with the sewage <br />disposal system of the city, or from or on which originates or has originated <br />sewage or industrial wastes, or other wastes, which directly or indirectly enters <br />or will enter the sewage disposal system shall pay to the city for the use and <br />services of such system the fees, rents and charges according to the following <br />schedule of rates. <br /> Charges for sewage disposal service will be based upon the <br />water consumed on the premises as measured by meters, used for this purpose, as <br />follows: <br /> (1) For the first fifteen thousand cubic feet used in any <br /> one month, twelve cents per hundred cubic feet. <br /> <br />(2) For any next quantity between fifteen thousand cubic <br />feet and one million cubic feet used in any one month, nine <br />cents per hundred cubic feet. <br /> <br />(3) For any next quantity in excess of one mltlion cubic <br />feet used in any one month, seven cents per hundred cubic <br />feet. <br /> <br />The minimum charge for such service shall be sixty cents per month. <br /> <br /> (b) Charges for dwelling units in premises with unmetered water <br />connections will be as follows: <br /> <br /> Fixture rates applicable to sach dwelling unit: Per Quarter: <br /> <br />First <br /> <br />First <br /> <br />First <br /> <br />First <br /> <br />First <br /> <br />sink $ 0.90 <br />each additional sink 0.50 <br />toilet 0.60 <br />each additional toilet 0.35 <br />bathtub 0.50 <br />each additional bathtub 0.35 <br />lavatory 0.50 <br />each additional lavatory 0.35 <br />set of laundry tubs 0.50 <br />each additional set of laundry tubs 0.35 <br /> <br />The minimum charge for such service shall be sixty cents per month. <br /> <br /> <br />
