AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 24-55 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, i~51, AS A~NDED, SO AS TO PROVIDE <br />NEW RATES FOR TAP CHARGES FOR CONNECTIONS TO WATER MAINS OF <br /> THE CITY OF PORTSMOIFfH <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that Section 24-55 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virsinia, 1951, ss <br />amended, be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 24-55. Size of taps; tap charges. <br /> <br /> All houses hereafter served with water shall be connected with a <br />water main of the city hy a ~ap of such size as the Superintendent of the <br />Water DeparTment may deem necessary. The sizes of ~aps and charges for same, <br />within the corporate limits of the Cities of Portsmouth and Suffolk, shall be <br />as follows: <br /> 5/8 inch tap $10o00 <br /> 1 inch tap 15.00 <br /> <br /> 1 1/2 inch tap SO.00 <br /> <br /> For houses outside the corporate limits of the Cities of Portsmouth <br />and Suffolk, such taps and charEes shall be as follows: <br /> <br /> 5/8 inch tap $15.00 <br />1 inch tap 20.00 <br /> <br />1 1/2 inch %ap 50.00 <br /> <br /> This ordinance heine necessary for the preservation of the public <br />health, morals and safety, an emergency is declared ~o exist and it shall <br />take effect from and after its passaEe. <br /> <br /> Adopted at a meetinE of the Council of the City of Portsmouth <br />held on June 27, 1961. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
