AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, 1961, BY ADDING TO SECTION 4-3 THEREOF <br />A NEW SUBSECTION NTJ~ERED SECTION 4-3 (235 .A), PROVIDING <br />FOR BULLETIN BOARDS AND ANNOUNCEMENT SIGNS FOR CHURCHES, <br />LODGES, FRATERNAL A_ND SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS WITHIN CER- <br />TAIN ZONING DISTRICTS. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that Section 4-3 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Portsmouth, 1961, be <br />amended by adding thereto m new subsection, ~o be numbered Section 4-3 <br />(235.A), to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 4-3. <br /> <br />PERMITTED USES <br /> <br />(235 .A) <br /> <br />Signs: bulletin boards and <br />announcement signs for churches <br />lodges, fraternal and social <br />organizations occupyin~ the <br />premises, not exceedin~ 18 <br />square feet in area and illumi- <br />nated only by the reflector <br />method, placed back of building <br />line, and so erected that the <br />light source is not-visible <br />from outside the premises~ <br />cep~ that emblems of such <br />organizations illuminated by <br />non-blinking neon tubes are <br />permitted~ <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at a <br />meeting held Nareh 27 1962 <br /> <br /> <br />
