AN ORDINA~NCE TO A~MEND SIJBSECTIO~ (d) OF SECTION 3-19 OF THE <br />ZC~ING ORDINAi~CE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, 1961, RELATING <br />TO PARKING SPACES, DRIVEWAYS AND CURB CUTS FOR PARKING LOTS, <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that subsection (d) of Section 3-19 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of <br />Portsmouth, 1961, be amended and reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br /> (d) All such parking spaces shall have direct access to a public <br />stree~o Adequate space shall be provi~£~-the maneuveri~lg of vehicles, <br />Detailed plans showing all entrances,"~e~i2s~barricades, bumper guards and <br />drainage plans shall be submitted to 2~e~r~ctor of _~h~bllc Works for approval <br />before a pe.~mit for such construction may be obtained. The following minimum <br />dimensional requirements shall be observed in every case, unless, upon written <br />application, the City Manager shall determine that some deviation therefrom is <br />necessary to preven~ a demonstrable hardship upon the property owner or ~s in <br />the best interest of public safety: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />No driveway shall exceed thirty-five (35) feet in width <br />at the property line, nor fifty (50) feet at the curb <br />line, <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />No driveway, at the curb line, shall be located within <br />fifteen (15) feet of the property line of an intersectin~ <br />street, and in no case nearer than five (5) feet from the <br />end of the curb radius. <br /> <br />(3) No driveway shall be located within ten (10) feet, at the <br /> curb line, from the line of the adjacent proper~y. <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />~ere more than one driveway is provided along a frontage <br />in single ownership, there must be a separation of at least <br />zwenty (20) feet at the curb line, and a six (6) inch raised <br />protective curb parallel mo the street extending noz less <br />than two-thirds the length of the island shall be placed in- <br />side the property line between the driveways. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth a~ a meeting held <br />March 27, 1962. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br /> <br />
