AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE THAT TITLE 22, CHAPTER 12, <br />A!RTICLE 4, CODE OF VIRGINIA, 1950, AS ~MENDED, <br />PROVIDING FOR THE COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE OF CHILDREN <br />BET¥1EEN THE AGES OF SEVEN AND SIXTEEN IN TiiE <br />SPECIFIED THEREIN, SfIALL BE IN EFFECT AND IN FORCE <br />IVlTHIN THE CITY OF PORTS~)UTH, VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, th? School Board of the City of <br /> Portsmouth, Virginia, has recommended by resolution <br /> to tile Council of ~he City of Portsm?uth that Title <br />' 22, .Chapter 12, Article 4, Code of Virginia, 19S0, <br /> as amended, be adopted pursuant to section 22-27S.24 <br /> of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, so that <br /> said article shall be in effect and in force within <br /> the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br /> NO~, THERHFORE~ Be it ordained by the Council <br /> of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> Title 22~ Chapter 12, Article 4, of the Code of <br />Virginia, 19SO, as amended, providing for the compulsory <br />attendance of children between the ages of seven and <br />sixteen in the schools s~ecified in said article, <br />shall be in effe:t and i~ force ~ithin the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br /> ~is ordinance being necessary for the public <br />health, morals and safety~ an emergency is declared to <br />exist and it shall ~ake effect from and after its passage~ <br /> <br />Adopted bM the Council Of the City of Portsmouth, <br /> at a meeting held October 9, 1962. <br /> <br /> -:Teste: ' i'~ <br /> <br /> <br />
