AN ORDINANCE TO ANIEND SECTIONS 60 AND 61 OF ARTICLE Il OF THE <br />LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE OF TitE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, 1960, IblPOSING <br />A LICENSE TAX ON NON-LOCAL PERSONS ENGAGED' IN THE CLEANING, : · <br />PRESSINGicDYEING AND LAUNDRY BUSINESS, SO AS TO OBTAIN THE <br />BENEFIT' OF ~[E RECIPROCITY PROVISIONS OF SIMILAR ORDINANCES OF - ~ <br />ADJOINING CITIES. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of' the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that sections 60 and 61 of Article II of the License <br />Tax Ordinance of the City of Portsmouth, 1960, be amended and <br />reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 60. <br /> <br />Cleaning, Pressing, Dyeing and <br />Laundry - Non-Local: <br /> <br /> Every person engaged in the business of dry <br />cleaning, pressing, dyeing or laundering who does <br />such work outside of the City of Portsmouth shall <br />pay a license tax of $425.00 per annum for each <br /> ~fice or place in the City of Portsmouth used for <br /> receiving and/or delivering such work. Not prorated. <br /> <br /> Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions, a license <br />tax of $60.00 per annum for each office or place in the <br />City of Portsmouth used for receiving and/or delivering <br />such work, shall be imposed under this section upon any <br />person operating such business in an adjoining city, and <br />having his ~lant in such adjoining city, where such city <br />imposes a sxmilar license tax upon any person operating <br />his business in and paying a license tax to the City of <br />Portsmouth and having his plant in Portsmouth, and <br />engaged in such business in both cities. Not prorated, <br /> <br /> The intent of this provision is to grant the same <br />reciprocal privileges to licensed persons in adjoining <br />cities engaged in such business~ provided such cities <br />grant the same reciprocal privileges to such persons <br />licensed by the City of Portsmouth° _ <br /> <br />· , Section 61,. i Cleaning, Pressing, Dyeing and <br /> <br /> <br />
