AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR TF~ ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN <br />PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF PORTSS~OUTH %%~DER EMINENT DO?~A!N <br />PROCEEDINGS PURSUANT TO CF~PTER 258 OF THE ACTS OF <br />ASSEMBLY OF 1958, SAID PROPERTY BEING NECESSARY FOR <br />iMPROVES~NT OF A PORTION OF PORTSMOUTH BOULEVARD, <br />ROUTE 337, PARCEL 071. <br /> <br /> ~HEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has found it to be necessary <br />~o widen and otherwmse zmprove a portion of Portsmouth Boulevard, <br />Route 337, under a Federal Urban Aid Program whereby it is the <br />responsibility of the said City to acqumre all necessary additional <br />property; and <br /> <br /> ~qEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has not been able ~o purchase <br />certain property necessary to this projec~ because the owner thereof <br />is not a resident of this state, and the City and the owner thereof <br />ha~e not been able to agree upon the price to be paid therefor; and <br /> <br /> ~HEREAS, advancemen~ of the work will be delayed unreason- <br />ably £f the said propersy ms not made available as soon as possible. <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Attorney is directed to institute <br />eminent domain proceedings, employmng counsel for that purpose, agains5 <br />the property hereinafter described, in accordance with and pursuant <br />to Section 23-f of the Charter of the City of Portsmouth (Chapter <br />258 of the Acts of Assembly of 1958), and that the sum of $293.94 <br />be deposited to the credit of the court as provided by law 5o com- <br />pensate the owner tlqereof: <br /> <br />a) The owner of record is as follows: <br /> Austia Eas!9~ Still Paramore. <br />b) ~ne interest to be acquired is the fee simple <br /> estate in and to the property hereinafter <br /> described as Parcel 071. <br />c) The approximate area of Parcel 071 is 1,663 <br /> square feet. <br />d) The description of t~e property is as foltows~ <br /> <br /> That certain parcel of land situate in the <br />City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, more particularly <br />described as follows: <br /> <br />Parcel 071 <br /> <br /> Beginning at the southeast corner of Portsmounh Boule- <br />vard (sometimes called State Highway Number 337) and Haysom <br />Street, and running thence in an easterly direction along <br /> <br /> <br />
