Section 4. New Employees° <br /> <br /> Any perseD hereafter employed by the City shall receive compensation <br />during the first, second~ third~ fourth~ and seventh years of his employment ss <br />set forth in Schedule A of this Ordinance. No employee shall receive compensation <br /> <br />provided for in the tenth year until completion of t~n full years of service. <br /> Section 5. Promotions° <br /> <br /> For the purpose of computing compensation under Schedule A of this <br />Ordinance during the first year only of employment in any higher rsnk~ any fireman <br />or policeman promoted To a higher rank during the second~ third, fourth~ or seventh <br />year of his employment, shall be deemed to be in the first~ second, third, or fourth <br />respectively, of his employment~ and shy fireman or policeman promoted to a higher <br />rank during or after the eighth year of his employment shall be deemed to be in the <br />seventh year of his employment. <br /> <br /> Section 6. Demotions. <br /> <br /> Any Fireman or Policeman who is dL~moted to a lower class shall receive <br /> <br />compensation according to the rank in which he is placed° <br /> Section 7o Reinstated Firemen and Policemen. <br /> <br /> Any Fireman or Policeman who is reinstated within one year after he has <br />left the employment of the City shall receive compensation according to the class in <br />which he is placed not to exceed however, the rate of pay he would receive had he not <br />left the employment of the City. <br /> <br /> Section 8. Overtime. <br /> <br />Firemen and Policemen whose rate of pay is fixed on a monthly basis shall <br />not receive any compensation for extra or overtime work~ except in cases of emergency. <br /> <br /> <br />
