AN ORI~INANCE ~ROVIDING FO~ THE CLASSIFICATION OF E~PLOY~ENT <br />AND A COMPENSATION PLAN FOR FIREMEN AND POLICEMEN 'OF '£~3~ CITY <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> Section 1o Employees Clsssifiedo <br /> <br /> On and after September 1~ 1964~ all Firemen and Policemen of the City of <br />Portsmouf~, shall be classified according to their rank and their compensation shall <br />be fixed according to such rank heldo <br /> <br /> Section 2. Rates of Compensation. <br /> <br /> The basic salary of compensation of each Fireman and Policeman until <br />otherwise changed by Ordinance~ shall be according to the schedule of pay herein- <br />after set forth designated ss Schedule A and made s part of this Ordinance except <br />that men in the Police~Department required to wear civilian clothes will be allowed <br /> <br />sn additional twenty dollars ($20.00) per month ss a clothing allowance. <br /> Section 3° Application to Present Firemen and P~,~tcemen. <br /> <br /> Ail Firemen and Policemen of the City shall receive the same compensation <br />according to their classification ss set forth in Schedule A of this OrdinsnCeo Any <br />Fireman or Policeman of the City who is at the effective date of this Ordinance <br />receiving less than the amount provided for in the schedule for his class or employ- <br />ment shall on and after September l, 1964, receive the amoun~ se~ forth in the <br />schedule. Any Fireman or Policeman who is reeeiving on the effective date of this <br />Ordinsnce~ more than the amoun~ he would be entitled to receive under said schedule~ <br />shall continue at the same salary until his years of service shall entitle him ~o an <br />increase in compensstiono <br /> <br /> <br />
